‘Beached’, the new musical from the critically acclaimed playwright and lyricist of the worldwide musical hit ‘Billy Elliot’, won’t be premiering soon after its playwright Lee Hall, its producer Opera North and the Bay Primary School are all entangled in a dispute involving the musical’s controversial content, particularly its inclusion of the element of homosexuality as represented by the musical’s gay character. This is what Hall has been asserting as the cause of the cancellation while the theatre company and the school are saying otherwise, simply put, it is a case of ‘he said, they said’.

Cameron Clifford, an 11-year old homegrown talent of Raritan Township, New Jersey, has just been cast as the latest addition to the highly successful Broadway staging of ‘Billy Elliot’. He will be playing the role of Michael, Billy’s best friend.

The son of Matt and Angela Clifford, Cameron began working for the Tony Award winning musical on March 10. A fifth grade student of Reading-Fleming Intermediate School and a product of Star Maker School of Flemington and Clinton, the young actor has been previously cast in the Studio 54 production of ‘Waiting for Godot’, playing the role of ‘the boy’, alongside acclaimed acting greats Nathan Lane, John Goodman, John Glover and Bill Irwin.

Giuseppe Bausilio is the latest addition to the list of young actors who have portrayed the title role in Broadway’s ‘Billy Elliot’, which continues to stage its open run at the Imperial Theatre.

Bausilio will be filling in for Jacob Clemente, who will deliver his last performance for the musical on June 5. From then on, he will be joining Joseph Harrington, Peter Mazurowski and fellow newcomer Tade Biesinger, who joined the company a few months ago, in the rotating roster for the title role.
